PCAP May 2024

May 1, 2024Holiday

International Workers' Day, also known as Labour Day is a celebration of laborers and the working classes that is promoted by the international labor movement and occurs every year on 1 May. Chose to in the 1886 Haymarket affair in Chicago. In 1886, beginning on 1 May, there was a general strike for the eight-hour workday. On 4 May, the police acted to disperse a public assembly in support of the strike when an unidentified person threw a bomb. The police responded by firing on the workers. Hundreds of labor leaders and sympathizers were later rounded up and four were executed by hanging, after a trial that was seen as a miscarriage of justice. In 1889, the Marxist International Socialist Congress met in Paris and established the Second International as a successor to the earlier International Workingmen's Association. They adopted a resolution for a "great international demonstration" in support of working-class demands for the eight-hour day.

Monday, May 6, 2024

At 16.00 ZOOM meeting PCAP

Zoom meeting talks on projects and details Erasmus, reflection of the event 30 04 2024, TRAVESTI positions, and performativity.

Tuesday, May 7, 2024At 18.00

WHERE: Atelierhaus, Lehargasse 8, 1060 Wien, 1OG Atelier Süd (M1)

Presentation MA in critical studies, Mayra Jenzer

Thursday, May 9, 2024HOLIDAY

Monday, 13 May 2024At 16.00WHERE: Atelierhaus, Lehargasse 8, 1060 Wien, 1OG Atelier Süd (M1)Presentations of the diplomas June term 2024RAWAN ALMUKHTAR

Monday, 13 May 2024At 18.00WHERE: Atelierhaus, Lehargasse 8, 1060 Wien, 1OG Atelier Süd (M1)

Title: Embracing the Internal South: Empowerment in Marginalised Communities, Salam Oida and ZARA (Zivilcourage & Anti-Rassismus-Arbeit)

Talk by

Salam Oida Collective: Ines Mahmoud & Imen Bousnina, www.salamoida.atZARA – Zivilcourage & Anti-Rassismus-Arbeit: Amina El-Gamal, www.zara.or.at

Part of the lecture series Conviviality & Criticality through Contemporary Art and Fashion.
