Wer schreibt unsere Geschichte?

THURSDAY/ Donnerstag, 09.11.2023

OPEN GALLERY DAY:Performances, Guided Tours, Drinks & Talks.17:00 20:00Gallerie Eschenbachgasse 11 Eschenbachgasse Wien, Wien, 1010 Österreich

STUDIO PCAP VISIT to the show, guided tour.

4 days of work for the points A3 inside MUSLIM* CONTEMPORARY is facilitated by Miguel González Cabezas (Ph.D. mentor learning on job practice).

FRIDAY /Freitag, November 10, 2023

19:00 hCommunity Event: Mehmooni curated by Javanehmdw – Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien I Anton-von-Webern-Platz 1, 1030 Wien

SATURDAY/ Samstag , November 11, 2023

13:30-17:00 hWORKSHOP mit Nadir Nahdi I Filmemacher und Content Creator

Storytelling-Workshop,”From MY story to OUR story" mit Nadir Nahdi

Explore the art of storytelling through our upcoming video creating workshop.

21:00 hSoul Kitchen Vienna I Hintere Zollamtsstraße 2B, 1030 Wien„Raقsouna Party” mit Qamareen

SUNDAY /Sonntag, November 12, 2023

13:00-16:00 hBrückengasse 4, 1060 WienWORKSHOP I “Stop Hate! Make Baklava!” I Backe deine eigenen Baklava bei HANA

This exhibition was a unique curatorial project presenting a large number of contemporary Afghan artists with their art works from painting to photography. The exhibition was on display in Tehran, Iran, in 2016.

About her artistic work, Maryam Kouhestani writes:“I was born and raised in Zahedan, a border city in the southeast of Iran. I’ve experienced a complex life that has made me to be sensitive and aware of the hardships of existence. For me, art is the only means of truly leaving. It is the sole language through which I can express myself. I strive to understand the world and, of course, myself through art, much like a blind child discovering every facet of theworld through touch. I create sculptures and work on art to explore and understand myself, allowing my heart to guide the way.”

CV: Maryam Kouhestani is a visual artist and curator. She holds an MA in Arts Research, Tabriz University, Iran. She has curated several art projects, the most significant of which is Nimrouz on contemporary art from Afghanistan in 2016.

Images

Maryam Kouhestani. The symposium is supported by the research project Conviviality as Potentiality (2021-2025), funded by Austrian Science Fund FWF: AR 679, and Geschäftsstelle ÖGGF – (Österreichische Gesselschaft für Geschlechterforschung)

In an increasingly digital and interconnected world, the intersection of bodies, technology, theory, and artificial intelligence (AI) presents an engaging and thought-provoking topic for a performative conference. This conference aims to explore the connections between these domains and delve into their transformative potential for contemporary societies. Additionally, it seeks to examine the power of civic resistance and the embodied fugitive intelligence of those made marginalized and outcast bodies, embracing how their resistance can align with new technologies and AI algorithms. It will delve into the ways in which marginalized bodies, historically framed as disposable and outcast, have employed embodied fugitive resistance as a means to survive and effect change. This means that the relationship between body and gender through technology and super-digitalized machines can also be a thought-provoking area of discussion. RECTOR: Johan Hartle – VICE RECTOR Ingeborg Erhart – VICE RECTOR Werner Skvara

October 4, 2023 Wednesday

Start of the colloquium, 4.10.2023 through 5.10.2023

COLLOQUIUM: inter, trans*, non-binary, no declaration ... How can we change structural discrimination?

An event hosted by the Coordination Office for the Advancement of Women I Gender Studies I Diversity and the Student Welcome Center. With this two-day colloquium (with workshops, lectures, film screening, and panel discussion), we ask about forms of action, relationships, and practices that expose and combat discrimination against trans*, inter, and non-binary people in the university system. In doing so, we want to take up feedback from trans*, inter, and non-binary students who draw attention to discrimination they experience in everyday university life. These experiences prompt us to look again at how power structures are used to stigmatize and exclude certain groups of people. By analytically breaking down the gender binary, we do not want to contradict the advancement of women, but rather do justice to the social reality of gender diversity. For all actors involved, recognizing this reality means critically reflecting on work routines and organizational processes, expanding their knowledge, and participating in changes. The lecture and the workshops will open up different spaces for discussion. We invite all staff and students of the Academy, but also all those interested in this topic, to think together with experts, artists, representatives of the Ombud for Equal Treatment, the Platform Intersex, and the director of the film "Feminism - WTF" about how reality can be shaped that is informed and sensitive to gender diversity. On a linguistic, factual and artistic level, we would like to ask very specifically: Where do we see spaces for action (play) in the environment of the academy?

The colloquium was conceived by Ingrid Schacherl in cooperation with the Student Welcome Center/Project Platform Diversity.

www.akbild.ac.at

Program

Wed, October 4th 2023

12–16 hSTS 21a, Souterrain

Lau Lukkarila: Hold your ache to my ache: movement practiceWorkshopPerformanceroom,17h–19.30 h

AulaOpening VR Ingeborg Erhart

Followed by Lecture with Workshop

Anna Campbell and Jill H. Prof. Dr. Marina Grzinic (IBK/PCAP).

About the workshop "...I want to know what happens if we don't go..." This question, posed 10 years ago by one of the activists of the Refugee Protest Camp Vienna to the then director of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, was part of a central scene of contention and radical decolonial institutional critique. In search of solidarity with the struggle for the right to have rights, the refugee protest collective had seized the space of the aula in the Academy. Only about a week later in November 2013, the Refugee Protest Camp Vienna activists were confronted with an ultimatum to leave the space. This momentous scene of expulsion marked the end of the practice of collective space seizing (of Refugee Protest Camp Vienna) that had been (and still is) so central to the language of resistance of the larger sans-papiers movement within Fortress Europe. The workshop takes this scene as a starting point and engages with practices of critical remembering and the echoing of multifaceted, silenced resistances. In other words, exploring what might happen and be transformed if radical intersectional critique and resistance are not expelled and repressed. Araba Evelyn Johnston-Arthur is the co-founder of Pamoja. Movement of the Young African Diaspora in Austria and the Austrian Black History Research Group. She has been active as a community and cultural worker and "racism critical" activist in Vienna. These writings, well-known at the time, offered scathing readings targeted against bourgeois taste – the title itself is a provocation in this sense – and presented unknown or minority artists, anti-canonical works and analyses that disagreed with conservative historiography.ajuntament.barcelona.catLa Rambla, 99, 08002 Barcelona

Wednesday 21.6.2023/ 10am-12.30pm

Antiracist Theater Program from the Periphery

Meeting with the collective Periferia Cimarronas, presentation of the project and a conversation sharing thoughts and experiences.Periferia Cimarronxs is a cultural space that has a theater run by Afro-descendant, migrant and trans* women. This allows us to deconstruct conceptions taken for granted by heteropatriarchy, for example, verticality and heterosexual reproduction, forgetting our main right of lust and desire. Being cast aside by capitalist colonial straight society, the travesty outsider condenses a great deal of negative nuances - such as migration, poverty, illness, racialization, exoticization, etc. - but by embracing these altered characteristics, we can gain empowerment to give a fierce and strong response to social rejection. In fact, we put in motion the sexualization of public spaces because we are tired of being isolated and erased from day by day life in open places. Our own presence generating discomfort at the public eye, becomes a real tool for imposing other ways of resistingand exceeding rejection, Thus, sexual wandering arises as an otherness giving us the possibility of making new cartographies in the suffocating architecture.

Frau Diamanda is a translator, writer, travesti audiovisual artist, drag performer, independent curator, cultural agent, dj and occasional actress of Peruvian origin living in Barcelona since 2016.

*Meeting point at the entrance of MACBA, Plaça dels Àngels, 1, 08001 Barcelona. MACBA Museum.Plaça dels Àngels, 1, 08001 BarcelonaVisiting the exhibition: Corpus infinitum

Denise Ferreira da Silva and Arjuna Neuman put forward ways of inhabiting and addressing the world, as possible alternatives to Western colonialist and extractivist capitalism. An exhibition brings together a series of films in which the four elements – water, earth, fire and air – inform the artists’ considerations of an entangled existence, in favour of a time and values that reimagine knowledge from a multi-species perspective. The exhibition includes installations of their films to date: Serpent Rain (2016), 4 Waters – Deep Implicancy (2019) and Soot Breath // Corpus Infinitum (2020), as well as archives related to the films. What does it mean to disorder Western thinking? What other ways of knowing – across cultures, time, space and form – can we learn, apprehend and relearn? The work critiques the long-lasting effects of the systematic structures of colonialism and capitalism, questioning the way they affect ecology, forms of extraction, territory, slavery – historically and in the present –, sovereignty and migration.Denise Ferreira da Silva is an artist, philosopher, and professor at the Institute of Social Justice at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver, Canada) and at the Monash University School of Art, Architecture, and Design (Melbourne, Australia).Arjuna Neuman is an artist, filmmaker, and writer. He is the co-founder of www.archiveofbelonging.org, a resource database for migrants and refugees.www.macba.cat

/ 1 pm Collective participative meal: A paella performed by Marc Sempere Moya and collective “Compartir Dona Gustet” (Sharing gives pleasure)

The collective “Compartir Dona Gustet” (Sharing gives pleasure) was born in 2008 to relate the ways how traditional culture and free culture are transmitted directly, without intermediaries, either by oral transmission, from person to person, or through the internet, “peer-topeer”. Mis-hear the ‘cene’ in Anthropocene and we are not beholders of an epoch or witnesses to a prospect of distancing projection onto a deep past or lost future but, rather, in the scene of our undoing. In this scene that I reframe as the Necrocene, there are still ways of doing things with being undone. Current art practice offers a new ars moriendi to make contestatorily palpable and even transform the necropolitical conditions of the Necrocene crisis by working with the strangely resilient powers of death. Current practices that deform the landscape-form demonstrate how the vulnerability of living our dying offers a queer material medium to agitate for livable life toward a black, trans* more-than-human commons.

Keywords. Anthropocene • black • commons • contemporary art • landscape • necrocene • necrolandscaping • necropolitics • queer • trans*

What if death foams? Material. Already dead, we reproduce in the soil like cicadas, black fluid out of our asses, viperously biological. What contribution can art, design, and architecture—in cooperation with AI and algorithms—make to the positive coexistence of humanity and nature? Prof. Dr. Marina Grzinic (IBK/PCAP).

About the workshop"...I want to know what happens if we don't go..." This question, posed 10 years ago by one of the activists of the Refugee Protest Camp Vienna to the then director of the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, was part of a central scene of contention and radical decolonial institutional critique. In other words, exploring what might happen and be transformed if radical intersectional critique and resistance are not expelled and repressed.Araba Evelyn Johnston-Arthur is the co-founder of Pamoja. Format, Market and Contemporaneity

The lecture is organized by the Studio for Post-conceptual Art Practices (IBK), prof. Marina Grzinic

This lecture traces the history of the Venice Biennale from its beginnings to the present and aims to highlight the points of change and friction that have defined the particular Venetian exhibition ecosystem. Although it is the oldest of all biennials, the Venice Biennale is a slippery subject. In the latest version of the XXI century, it has become a mega-event that encompasses the entire city and has over a hundred exhibitors each time. How can we consider the Venice Biennale as a specific event? Is it more relevant than other biennials? What were the main turning points of its ever-changing facet? How does it negotiate contemporaneity and its legitimizing role within the art system?

Bio

Dr. Clarissa Ricci is an associate professor at the University of Bologna. Her research focuses on the history and networks between exhibitions, biennials, fairs and museums. She is editor of OBOE Journal. On Biennials and Other Exhibitions and a member of the Venice Biennale Research Group BiTES at IUAV University in Venice. She edited several volumes, including Starting from Venice. Studies on the Biennale (2011). Her latest book on the Venice Biennale's Aperto exhibition series for young artists – APERTO 1980-1993 (2022) – is currently being translated into English.

Photo:View of Liliana Moro and Bernard Rüdiger installation La Casa (1993) at Aperto '93, Corderie, La Biennale di Venezia, 1993.
