RESEARCH TRIP TO BUCHAREST BIENNALE 3

22.05.2008 to 26.05.2008

RESEARCH TRIP TO BUCHAREST BIENNALE 3

BB3 invited students of the Post Conceptual Art Practices (PCAP) at The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna to propose a parallel event as part of the Biennale.

The result is a book project with the title Are you talking to me?
Discussions on knowledge production, gender politics and feminist strategies, edited by feminist group h.arta (Maria Crista, Anca Gyemant, Rodica Tache) from Romania and Katharina Morawek (PCAP student). After an intensive editorial process the book presents PCAP students positions on questions of knowledge, EU and feminism. These positions are presented together with invited international writers and artists. The book is published by Löcker Verlag, Vienna, and financially supported by The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna/Post Conceptual Art Practices and BB3.

25.12-31.12.2006 GOING TO PAF, FRANCE

TAKING PART AT THE WINTER UNIVERSITY at PAF/France with working on the topic of production of knowledge. The project at PAF will be connected with the research group from Belgrade (Marta Popivoda, Ana Vujanovic, Bojana Cvejic and altri) and with the gallery KONTEKST, Belgrade.

PAF (=PerformingArtsForum) is a place for the professional and not-yet professional practitioners and activists in the field of performing arts, visual art, new media and internet, theory and cultural production, who seek to research and determine their own conditions of work. PAF is for people who can motorize their own artistic production and knowledge production not only responding to the opportunities given by the institutional market.

Initiated and run by artists, theoreticians and practitioners themselves, PAF is a user-created, user-innovative informal institution. Neither a production-house and venue, nor a research-center, it is a platform for everyone who wants to expand possibilities and interests in his/her own working practice.

TRIPS NOVEMBER-DECEMBER 2006

Are CONNECTED with the topic of our research in 2006/2007 school year that is PRODUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE and the system of contemporary education, with an emphasis on open source and (self) organizing models of knowledge and activities; trips will be organized to Prishtina, Kosovo and PAF, France.

A series of lectures and trips (Prishtina, PAF/France) will be organized in order to develop a project, exhibition and discussion model on self organized systems of knowledge that will be presented as well in Vienna in a public space in January 2007 (13 and 14. January at TheaterKOMBINAT).

One of the educational goals of the Post Conceptual Art Practices Class is taking part in research and exchange trips. In such trips students actively present their work and activate a platform of debates with other students and the general public. Post Conceptual Art Practices from The Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna has accomplished several research trips in the last three years: Ljubljana (Slovenia), Bratislava (Slovakia), Split (Croatia), Belgrade (Serbia), Usti nad Labem (Czech Republic) and Dresden (Germany). In all these cities we have visited the Academy of Fine Arts and had a program of lectures, performances, screenings, happenings and presentations. The exchange is established between the Class and other Academies or cultural centers in connection with artistic and cultural projects.
